The Lego sculpture featured in this photograph depicts the Roman centurion guarding the buried body of Jesus in the tomb. I feel bad for Jesus: after everything He has been through now he must escape Tony the Tiger and evade a soldier wielding what appears to be a dual-sided lightsaber! ;-) This creation was made by an imaginative 8 year-old. Can you do better? We’re asking all kids in the parish who are 12 years old or younger to accept and take part in the Lego Resurrection Challenge! Kids of the parish are encouraged to use their creativity and to depict a moment associated with the Resurrection of Jesus through Lego blocks; for example, creations could show the soldiers guarding the tomb, the women visiting the tomb, the empty tomb, Jesus meeting Mary Magdalene, Christ appearing to the Apostles in the Upper Room, Jesus and the disciples walking to Emmaus, etc. To compete, please take a digital photograph of the child’s artwork – take a photo that is nice and close up so it can be seen well – and email it to me, Fr. Cook, at djcook@archomaha.org from now until the end of Easter Sunday (Sunday, April 12th at 11:59 p.m.). Please include the name and age of the child who created the work. The judges will select the 5 best submissions based on 1. playfulness, 2. originality/creativity, and 3. the clarity with which it depicts the source material. The winning photos will be published in our April 19 bulletin. Let the competition of bricks and mini-figs commence!
