Ladies Guild

Dear Sisters in Christ,

I am sitting here writing to you from my basement where I have been working from since March thinking what a year this has been! For those who may not know me, my name is Christie Huggins. My family and I have been part of the Christ the King parish for over 20 years. My husband, Dave and I were married at Christ the King in 2000 and we have three daughters, Susie (19), Elizabeth (16) and Luci (13). My older girls graduated from Christ the King school and Luci is currently in 8^th grade.

The purpose of the Ladies Guild has always been to support and foster community within our parish, but this year I think we will all be learning together new ways of fostering our community from afar when so many school and parish events are being canceled. A theme that has been on my heart and mind this year is survival. So many of our communities are struggling with the Covid pandemic and unrest and I know that the women in our parish will work to pull together to continue our spiritual and physical support of the parish community.

While I know the start to the Ladies Guild year will not be like previous years, I feel that the words of St. Francis of Assisi will help to guide us for the 2020-2021 year.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me show love. Where there is doubt, faith, where there is despair, hope, where there is darkness, light, where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console, not so much to be understood as to understand, not so much to be loved, as to love; for it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in dying that we awake to eternal life.   St. Francis of Assisi

For those Ladies Guild members who would like to join us, below is a schedule of meetings that have been set for the upcoming year. All meetings will be held in the Ladies Guild room in the church basement from 2:00-3:00pm and all ladies guild members are welcome to join. Please note masks and social distancing will be required until the CDC guidelines are updated.
