We have a goal - Heaven, a road map - Scripture and Tradition, examples to follow - the Saints, leadership - the Pope, Bishops, Priests and Deacons, clear teaching authority - the Magisterium of the Church, help along the way - the Sacraments, and we have Divine guidance - the Holy Spirit. (by: Ginny Whelan, St. John XXII Catholic Church, Ft. Meyers FL) So.... what is left to do?
Sacraments have visible and invisible aspects. Visible, like a hug from a parent to a child, and invisible with the love that the hug expresses. That sacramental love is what we call Grace.

The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament. (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1601)

Teaching Families the Catholic Faith
The Church has been moving from CCD (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine) towards Family Faith Formation, a religious education program for the family. This movement began many years ago placing the focus on religious education in the family. Family Faith Formation is applying the teaching of the Catechism of the Catholic Church paragraph 2223 that states, "Parents are the primary educators of their children in faith." How does this work? Because parents are the first witnesses of the Catholic faith to their children, we equip them to be the best witnesses through education in Scripture, Catechism, Catholic identity and Church history. We are immersing ourselves in the teachings of our Catholic faith and lives are changing because of it. The parents pass on the faith to their children and form a domestic church. This is where Evangelization is born. We are forming families in the Catholic way of life as pilgrims on a journey to eternal life. Family Faith Formation works because the family grows in faith together. Our families who are in our program are witnesses to this success. Christ the King will begin its 4th year of Family Faith Formation this fall.
Christ the King is a leader in religious education in our Archdiocese.
Sin is before all else an offense against God, a rupture of communion with him. At the same time sin damages communion with the Church. For this reason conversion entails both God's forgiveness and reconciliation with the Church, which are expressed and accomplished liturgically by the sacrament of Reconciliation. (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1440)
Sacrament of Reconciliation is offered at the following times:
Saturday from 3:30-4:30 pm or by calling the parish office (402-391-3606) for an appointment.First reconciliation and Communion
