With the start of the 2020 – 2021 school year now less than a month away, I wanted to make you aware of some school start-up precautions that will be in place at Christ the King on the first day of school on August 21
st. These are based on your potential COVID-19 risk and your potential risk due to any end-of-summer vacation travel and are in place to help ensure that students (and staff members) entering the building on the first day of school present a low risk to each other.
Please refer to the situations below to determine whether you’re considered to be at a higher risk related to COVID-19. If any of the below situations apply to your family or to your child(ren) that will prevent them from starting school on August 21
st, please notify the school office and complete the needed actions as indicated below. As a reminder, exposure to COVID-19 is considered to be exposure to an unmasked infected person who coughs or sneezes on you or exposure within 6-feet of an unmasked infected person for at least 15 minutes. Also, hot spots right now in the United States include Arizona, Louisiana, Texas, California, and Florida.
Have you or your child been exposed to anyone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19? If yes, your child must have quarantined and been monitored without any COVID-19 symptoms for 14 days since exposure for entry into the school on August 21st.
Has your child tested positive for COVID-19? If yes, your child must have quarantined for 10 days (since diagnosis), had improving symptoms, and been fever free for 72 hours without taking medication to lower body temperature. This and evidence of a negative COVID-19 test and a note from your child’s doctor are also required for entry into the school on August 21st.
Have you or your child traveled abroad to a foreign country, on a cruise ship, or on a commercial airplane (either abroad or within the United States)? If yes and no COVID-19 symptoms are present 14 days after returning to Omaha, your child is able to start school on August 21st. If back in Omaha less than 14 days, your child will not be able to start school until 14 days have passed without any COVID-19 symptoms.
Has your family traveled to any highly impacted COVID-19 states (hot spots such as Arizona, Louisiana, Texas, California, and Florida )? If yes and no COVID-19 symptoms are present 14 days after returning to Omaha, your child is able to start school on August 21st. If back in Omaha less than 14 days, your child will not be able to start school until 14 days have passed without any COVID-19 symptoms.
The above precautions are being taken to ensure the safety and protection of all students, staff members, and essential visitors as we begin our new school year. It’s imperative that we all work together to safeguard both our school community and our Catholic school. Thanks in advance for your support and your cooperation.
